“Hollywood Nonsense” Caused Bungie to Replace Dinklage for Destiny’s The Taken King

Whereas Nolan North, the new voice of Ghost, is easily available.

Bungie is going all out to fix issues with its next expansion for Destiny, The Taken King. One of the biggest changes is the removal of Peter Dinklage as the voice of Ghost and replacing him with Nolan North, known for his roles in games like the Uncharted series.

Many believed that this was due to the sub-par line delivery from Dinklage (which wasn’t helped by the atrocious script) but executive producer Mark Noseworthy also revealed to Game Informer that “Hollywood nonsense” caused the change. Compared to Dinklage, North was more available for recording lines.

“You can just call him up and say, ‘Hey, next week we’re doing this internal play test and it would be great to get some Ghost dialogue in there.’ And he’s available.”

Whereas Dinklage would have his own Hollywood commitments, not including his work on Game of Thrones, to attend to. Why Bungie would hire a voice actor for an important role that wouldn’t be available when regular expansions requiring new dialogue came about is beyond us.

Destiny: The Taken King is out on September 15th for Xbox One, PS4, PS3 and Xbox 360 so savour that sweet Dinklebot voice while you can.
