Homeworld 3 Confirmed for The Game Awards Pre-Show

Announced back in August 2019, the real-time strategy title was confirmed to be in production back in June 2021. It's currently slated for PC.

The Game Awards 2021 is set to start today at 5 PM PT but before that, there’s the pre-show taking place on 4:30 PM PT. Among the announcements taking place is Homeworld 3. The official Twitter didn’t offer many other details aside from the words, “Command online. Resourcing online. #Homeworld3 online.”

Among the many games appearing at today’s event, Homeworld 3’s development cycle is been one of the strangest. It was announced in August 2019 to be in pre-production with crowd-funding campaign on Fig for $1. Not many details were offered afterwards (aside from 28 seconds of gameplay) until Gearbox Software’s E3 2021 presentation where it was finally confirmed to be in production.

Perhaps there will be a status update at The Game Awards pre-show, though a release date still seems a ways off. Homeworld 3 is currently in development for PC. Blackbird Interactive is also working on another real-time strategy title with Crossfire: Legion, which is based on Smilegate’s popular FPS franchise and slated to release next year. Stay tuned for more details and coverage in the meantime.
