Whether or not the PlayStation VR2 is on track to have the successful launch that Sony is hoping it will might be in dispute (Sony insists that it does), but those who have their minds made up about diving in with both feet on day one are likely to have their eyes on one of its launch titles in particular. Horizon Call of the Mountain has been billed as the VR headset’s flagship game since its announcement, and ahead of its imminent release, it has hit a major development milestone.
Taking to Twitter, Guerrilla announced that Horizon Call of the Mountain has gone gold, which means it’s wrapped up principal development, with any work on bug fixes and polishing from this point forward being added to the game in the form of day one or post-launch patches.
Co-developed by Firesprite, the first person VR game will put players in the shoes of protagonist Ryas, former Shadow Carja who seeks to restore his honour. The series’ staple combat mechanics against deadly machines will return, while new emphasis will also be placed on climbing mechanics. Meanwhile, you can also expect series protagonist Aloy to make an appearance.
Horizon Call of the Mountain launches alongside PlayStation VR2 on February 22.
