“It feels good” to be compared to Call of Duty- DICE

Comparisons between Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 have been running heavy lately, and it’s hard not to pay attention. Both of them are very similar games, and when the two are going in direct competition against each other, comparisons are bound to be made.

Battlefield 3 producer Patrick Liu told Gamasutra that he feels good about his game being compared to Call of Duty. “It feels good,” he said. “They’re behemoths, and just the notion that we would be able to take a chunk from their gamers is awesome.”

“Since the old days, it’s been clear that it’s a dominant form of playing games.

“They’re both military shooters, but in terms of flavor and style they’re different. But we offer so much more than they do, I think; but that’s me.” Fighting words all the same.

EA tried to dethrone Call of Duty last year with Medal of Honor’s reboot, and that obviously didn’t work out as they would have expected.

In the same interview, Liu said that single player has become a core pillar of the Battlefield games now.

Battlefield 3 releases later this month for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
