Killer is Dead Combat and Gigolo Missions Explained

Set 'em up and knock 'em dead.

Grasshopper Manufacture’s upcoming third person action game Killer is Dead is certainly a stylish grindhouse of action, both bloody and bombastic. Speaking to the game’s director Goichi Suda, Siliconera found out about the Katana Arts that the protagonist Mondo Zappa uses and about the so-called Gigolo Missions.

With his blade Gekkou, Mondo can absorb the blood of his enemies. He can slash, dodge and guard against attacks, as well as use his mecha arm for a long range attack (that can alternatively kill enemies in one hit if you score a head shot). There’s also a Just Guard technique, that momentarily stuns enemies and allows you to follow up with an attack.

Absorb enough blood and and Gekkou turns blue, causing more damage and linking attacks into higher chain combos.

The Gigolo Missions can be viewed as a sort of side-quest, with the objective of seducing different women in the game to win their hearts. Mondo has various tools for doing this, including Gigolo Glasses, which only increase the risque nature of the game that much more by allowing the player to see the woman’s heart. Through her clothes. Ahem. Yeah.

Killer is Dead is slated to release on Xbox 360 and PS3 this Summer in North America courtesy of XSEED with Deep Silver releasing it in Europe.
