Despite the precedence Microsoft gives the device over its own games, no one can deny that Kinect was a revelation when it was first released with hackers and other researchers finding multitudes of applications for the same. And Microsoft hasn’t forgotten about them, as it has announced that the next generation Kinect 2.0 will be about for Windows PCs in 2014.
In a new blog post on the same, Kinect for Windows director Bob Heddle stated, “We’re continuing our commitment to equipping businesses and organizations with the latest natural technology from Microsoft so that they, in turn, can develop and deploy innovative touch-free applications for their businesses and customers.”
“Both the new Kinect sensor and the new Kinect for Windows sensor are being built on a shared set of technologies. The precision and intuitive responsiveness that the new platform provides will accelerate the development of voice and gesture experiences on computers.”
Expect to see more about Kinect 2.0 for Windows at the upcoming BUILD 2013 conference in June.
