Kinect for Windows Is Coming, Will Cost $200

Yowsers.

Here’s the thing with the Kinect- the device, which consists of some very advanced, very intelligent cameras and microphones, alongside the necessary grunt needed to process all the input data, is absolutely, singularly worthless for gaming. But beyond gaming? The applications, the potential, is boundless. Practically infinite. The Kinect could legitimately have some very cool applications outside of just gaming. So it’s frustrating to see it being as hamstrung by the Xbox One as it in turn hamstrings the console.

Thankfully, just like the first Kinect, the new one is apparently getting standalone release for Windows PCs, and it will set you back by a pretty penny- to be precise, it costs a whopping $200, which is an amazing amount of money.

The bitter pill might be easier to swallow when you consider than on PCs, its usage is not limited to just games alone (in fact, it’s highly doubtful any game will ever make any use of Kinect on PC)- rather, it’s a multi purpose device with a high amount of some truly creative applications.

Will you be looking at purchasing Kinect for Windows? Or do you just have a bad view of the device and the concept overall?
