Kingdom Hearts 3: Basic Gameplay Mechanics And Systems Are Already Completed

The demo will be a sight to see, that's for sure.

We got some hints earlier this month that development for Kingdom Hearts 3 is moving right along at a brisk pace, considering it will be ready to be shown off at this year’s D23 Expo. Now game director Tetsuya Nomura has spoken to OPM UK and talked about how the game’s basic mechanics and gameplay are almost done. Now that this is almost complete, the main team working on the title is starting to redirect its efforts towards polishing and eventually mass production.

At the same time, the director says this part of the process is still going to take some serious work. The framework for the game is in place, the mini-games and other aspects are still getting quite a bit of work. The director seemed to contradict himself a bit in this regard, though it’s possible that has more to do with how he’s thinking versus what most other people outside the industry consider done.

“Other elements, including the mini-games and other various smaller items; their progress is very varied…some of them are polished and very close to final state, but at the same time some elements are still in the planning phase and I haven’t laid out the groundwork yet.” The director told the publication. Of course, it seems as if we’ll all get a look at just how close this game really is to getting done once the game is shown off in August. Kingdom Hearts 3 doesn’t have an official release date yet but we do know it’s not going to be out until 2016 at the earliest.
