Kingdom Hearts 3 shows no sign of coming out any time soon and the fans are clamouring for it to such an extent that they have started creating their own concept art and predicting returning mechanics. For a game that’s not even out yet. That’s how badly they want it.
Though would they still want it if it had an online multiplayer component? Square Enix have posted a job listing that would see the successful applicant working in the Osaka branch, who are famously working away on Kingdom Hearts 3. The job description reads as follows, “In charge of general technical assistance (workflow construction, selection of middleware etc) in Implementing the high quality graphic expression or Kingdom Hearts III. In charge of construction duties for a shader on the game engine for nature representations (water, rain, snow etc) and special effects (magic etc) etc, constantly online games.“
So that’s interesting, right? How could, if at all, a constantly online component of a Kingdom Hearts game work? Would it actually be a multiplayer suite? Would it perhaps be a means of utilizing some PvP pr cooperative play mode? As per usual, it’s too early to tell and Square Enix are notoriously tight lipped. But what do you think?
