Kojima Productions Plans To Work On Multiple Titles, With One Being A “Big” Game

Two of the key figures of the studio reveal they are planning a lot of new stuff.

The first game from a post-Konami Kojima Productions is finally out in the wide world. Death Stranding released to mostly positive reviews, though the general feeling towards it was more polarizing than most of Hideo Kojima’s other games. But the studio is already looking to the future, and Kojima himself is apparently already researching his next game, and today we get a lot of ideas about what that could potentially be.

In a lengthy feature from Japanese magazine Famitsu, Hideo Kojima and legendary artist Yoji Shinkawa talked about the studio’s upcoming plans. They reveal that the plan right now is to work on multiple titles, with one of those being “big.” It’s not clear what’s meant there, but presumably it means at least one of those games will be a major budget title similar to Death Stranding, while the others will be smaller in scope- more specifically, Kojima mentions episodic or digital-only releases.

Meanwhile, both Kojima and Shinkawa also feel that Death Stranding, contrary to common consensus, isn’t that weird as a game and is mostly similar to the work they’ve done before. In fact, they would like to work on even weirder games going forward.

No solid details are given about what any of those games will actually be are given, but Kojima throws out that he wants to put more mecha in whatever it ends up being, so Shinkawa’s distinct art style can be utilized more (thanks to DualShockers for transcribing and translating the interview).

Kojima has said before he wants to create something based on the emerging media technologies, and Death Stranding had a lot of design ideas based around social media. It will most likely be a little while until we see any of these projects, but whatever they end up being, they are sure to be interesting.
