Deck Nine Games’ Life is Strange: Double Exposure has received some new details and gameplay courtesy of a reveal livestream with the development team. The story sees Max Caulfield, the protagonist of the first game, grown up and now a professor at Caledon University. Months after she’s settled in, her best friend Safi is mysteriously murdered.
When attempting to use her Rewind powers, Max opens a path into an alternate timeline where Safi is still alive. The killer is still on the loose, so it’s a race against time to save her. The reveal livestream confirms that Rewind is not present. Instead, Max can shift back and forth between timelines, discovering clues about suspects and even eavesdropping on events.
Of course, events in one timeline can influence another, hinting at potential puzzles to solve via this method. Max can get confused between timelines, so it’s up to the player to pay attention and remember the differences to avoid awkward moments.
Life is Strange: Double Exposure launches on October 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch version coming later.
