Limbo Coming to iOS Devices on June 3rd

And soon the darkness again.

The mobile gaming market just got a heavyweight indie entry, as Playdead has announced that they are bringing their 2D side-scrolling platformer Limbo to iOS on July 3rd via the iTunes App Store for just $4.99. It will be playable on iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.

Employing a monochromatic art style and aesthetic use of shadows and silhouettes, Limbo tells the enigmatic tale of a protagonist traversing across a world filled with various terrors to find his sister. The mood of the game and its story-telling made it a critical and commercial success as it sold more than 3 million copies for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, Vita and Mac OS.

Playdead is reworking the controls in order to optimize it for touchscreens, but it seems that Limbo will work on iPad 2 and higher, iPad Mini, iPhone 4S and higher and the latest iteration of iPod Touch. Check out our review of Limbo for the PlayStation Vita here.
