Fallout 4 could either be one of the worst kept secrets in gaming, or one of the best. Everyone seems to believe that it is in development – heck, some of us are simply raging at Bethesda Softworks for not providing any hints that it actually exists. However, there’s one thing we know for sure: Fallout 4 won’t be arriving on the Nintendo Wii U.
This is based off of Bethesda Softworks vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines recently stating that as far as the Wii U is concerned, “it’s not something that we are currently developing for. I don’t know whether that changes down the road or not. It depends on the games that we are making and how we think it aligns with that console, and how the hardware aligns with the other stuff we are making. We will see.”
Fallout 3 and its subsequent expansions never made their way to the Wii either, but given how the Wii U is capable of many current generation titles like Ninja Gaiden 3 and Darksiders 2, one would think that Fallout 4 would at least be given a chance. However, there’s the kicker: the fourth game may not even be releasing for this generation’s console. After all, rumours were strong on it being an Xbox One exclusive.
While that never came to pass, it’s still noted that Bethesda is already behind next gen console development as indicated by cross-generational titles like Wolfenstein: The New Order and The Elder Scrolls Online. If Fallout 4 does see an announcement, perhaps next year, then look for it to be solely on next gen consoles – which sadly, won’t include the Wii U. Then again, wait and watch, and take everything with a grain of salt.
