Marathon Cinematic Trailer Showcases the Cycle of Death and Rebirth for a Triage and Thief

Assists, betrayals, and even meeting on opposite sides - all of this and more seemingly await with the March 5th launch.

Bungie dropped several new details on Marathon’s seasons, outlining what will be lost and what to expect when Season 1 drops this month. However, it had a hidden ace up its sleeve – a cinematic launch trailer, focusing on the bond, such as it is, between a Thief and a Triage. And it’s set to “In Death We’ve Just Begun” by Poppy and Son Lux. Check it out below.

If you’ve played a single run of Marathon, this will all look familiar. Joined by a Destroyer, the duo face countless deaths, whether it’s getting ambushed by other Runner crews, losing to UESC bots, or toxin from the harsh plant-life on Tau Ceti IV. There’s understanding, frustration, and blame, but things eventually come together for them to eventually infiltrate the UESC Marathon, where the end-game map Cryo Archive awaits.

The squad is quickly attacked by the entity within, and while the Triage helps the Destroyer, the Thief does what a thief does: Bails with the loot. Another cycle later, and they meet again, but this time in a solo run. Could things have ended differently? Probably in the next life, which is probably the storytelling that Bungie wants to reinforce.

Marathon launches on March 5th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
