Marathon’s PC Requirements Are Pretty Forgiving But Installation Space is a Mystery

You'll only need an 11th-gen Core i5, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 2060 (8 GB) to enjoy the extraction shooter on recommended settings.

Bungie finally dated its upcoming extraction shooter Marathon, with a release for March 5th on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC. Pre-orders are live as the Deluxe Edition includes additional cosmetics and Battle Pass for $59.99, as you do. We even learned of all the star voice talent on board. However, it also stealthily updated the PC requirements on Steam.

Previously unknown, the recommended requirements include an Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500, 16 GB of RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 (6 GB), an AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT (8 GB) or an Intel Arc A770 (16 GB with ReBAR enabled). Those who experienced the first closed alpha will note that the requirements remain the same, including a Core i5-6600 or Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1050 Ti (4 GB), Radeon RX 5500 XT (4 GB), or Arc A580 (8 GB).

Perhaps the only discrepancy is the lack of mention of installation space. In the fine print, Bungie notes that, “Hard drive storage requirements are subject to increase,” and you’ll need additional space for “set-up, features and updates, including downloading mandatory in-game updates.” Perhaps it’s still trying to narrow down how much that will be. Either way, you can expect the space requirements to increase post-launch, as with every other live-service game.
