Mario Strikers: Battle League Tops UK Retail Charts, The Quarry Debuts at No. 4

Mario Strikers' launch sales are lower than the last couple of Mario sports titles, while The Quarry saw a decent launch.

There were a couple of major new video game releases last week, and unsurprisingly, both figure in the latest weekly charts for physical software sales in the UK (via GamesIndustry). Mario Strikers: Battle League has debuted on top of the charts, though its launch sales are lower than the last couple of Mario sports games- 20% lower than Mario Golf: Super Rush and 6% lower than Mario Tennis Aces. Even so, Nintendo games generally exhibit long legs, so it’ll be interesting to see how Strikers performs over the long term, especially with the FIFA World Cup set for later this year.

Another big new release last week was Supermassive Games and 2K Games’ interactive horror title The Quarry. That debuts in No. 4, though with only physical sales being counted here, it’s hard to judge exactly how it’s performed overall. 85% of its physical sales came on PlayStation consoles, with the remainder coming from Xbox.

Beyond that, there are a lot of familiar faces in the top 10. Horizon Forbidden West, which topped last week’s charts, has fallen to No. 3, while LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is up to second place. Nintendo Switch Sports, meanwhile, drops down to No. 5.
