Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – Insomniac Responds to Lack of New Footage, Asks for “A Little More Patience”

The developer says it's "in the kitchen" and "It smells good in there," which likely means development on the PS5 title is going well.

This year is already chock-full of big releases, from recent hits like Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4 Remake to upcoming blockbusters like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Of course, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is on the list as it prepares for a Fall 2023 release date.

However, after its reveal two years ago, Insomniac Games hasn’t provided any new footage or gameplay details. Responding to a Twitter user about why it hasn’t shown anything, the developer said, “Because we’re in the kitchen. It smells good in there, but we just ask for a little more patience.”

With Sony rumored to be hosting a PlayStation Showcase in June before Summer Game Fest, the PS5 exclusive could be there. It could reveal the first gameplay footage and maybe even the release date. As such, a marketing campaign months out from the game’s release isn’t a new thing – look at other first-party PlayStation titles like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West.

If it’s any consolation, actor Yuri Lowenthal, who plays Peter Parker, confirmed his motion capture work was “all done,” which could mean development is in the home stretch. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime.
