Hogwarts Legacy may have launched under a cloud of controversy, but the game has proven to be a massive success for WB Games nonetheless. Within two weeks of launch, it had sold over 12 million units, raking in over $850 in revenue for the publisher- and those numbers, it turns out, were far beyond what WB Games was projecting for the game’s initial sales.
That’s as per the LinkedIn profile of WB Games’ senior brand and marketing manager Arien Darby, which mentioned that the game’s sell-through figures at launch were 256% higher than what the company was internally expecting. The same was spotted by @bogorad222 on Twitter, and Darby has since then updated his profile to remove the aforementioned section, presumably looking to remove unreleased internal projections data.
Upon the game’s launch in February, WB Games president president David Haddad said the game was seeing “spectacular” engagement, and that the company was “very pleased” with its initial launch.
Hogwarts Legacy is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It launches for PS4 and Xbox One on May 5, and for Nintendo Switch on July 25.
