Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Reveal Trailer Was Running in Real Time, Developer Says

Marvel's Spider-Man 2's lead VFX artist Bryanna Lindsey confirms that the game's recent reveal trailer was in-engine.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was one of several major upcoming PlayStation exclusives to make a splash at the recent PlayStation Showcase. Its reveal trailer showed Peter and Miles taking on foes together, with a mysterious voice in the background, and a reveal of Venom at the end. Visually, the trailer looked quite impressive, and it’s been confirmed that none of what we saw was CG.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s lead VFX artist Bryanna Lindsey recently took to Twitter to confirm that the recent announcement trailer was running in real-time in-engine on a PS5. Given the fact that Insomniac achieved some pretty impressive things in even a cross-gen game like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, it’s exciting to think what they’ll do in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which is supposedly PS5 exclusive. Of course, Insomniac also made Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, which is probably one of the best looking games around right now, so expectations from their future games are high.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is due out for the PS5 in 2023. Tony Todd has been confirmed as the actor playing Venom, and he says the sequel is going to be “massive.”
