Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Tops UK Charts on Debut, Fourth Biggest Physical Launch of 2023

Physical sales are "significantly" lower than the original game and 20 percent less than last year's God of War Ragnarok.

As one of the most anticipated games of the year, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is expected to perform well in sales. According to Christopher Dring of Games Industry, it debuted “comfortably” at the top on this week’s UK physical charts and is the fourth biggest boxed launch in the region this year.

It’s behind The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, EA Sports FC 24 and Hogwarts Legacy. However, Dring also noted that physical launch sales are down 20 percent compared to God of War Ragnarok last year. They were also down “significantly” from Marvel’s Spider-Man. However, digital distribution has progressed since 2018, so we’ll see where it stands when the GSD sales data becomes available.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is exclusive to PS5. Check out our review here. Though no story DLC is confirmed, Insomniac Games has several updates planned, including New Game Plus, Mission Replay and new suits, so stay tuned.
