Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Will Add New Game Plus and Mission Replay Before 2024

"We’re working on an update for those features but they won’t be in Day 1," says Insomniac's community director James Stevenson.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Insomniac has a tendency to cram its games full of additive bells and whistles at launch, with plenty of modes and additional features being available in the developer’s titles to allow players to get the most out of the games. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, however, will have one or two such features missing at launch- though they will be coming in the not-too-distant future.

Insomniac Games’ community and marketing director James Stevenson has confirmed in posts published on Twitter that at launch, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 won’t have a New Game Plus mode, nor will it have a mission replay options. Both of these things will be added to the game for free in post-launch updates. Though Stevenson says they won’t be part of the game’s day one patch, he does say that they’re likely to arrive sometime before the end of the year.

The game will, however, have a pretty robust Photo Mode available at launch. Head on over here for more details on what to expect from it upon the game’s imminent release.

In our review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we awarded it a score of 9/10, saying, “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is exactly the sort of sequel you’d want it to be, and though it stumbles here and there, ultimately, it improves on its predecessors in almost every way that matters most.” Read the full review through here.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launches on October 20 for PS5. You can prepare for its launch by checking out Sony and Insomniac’s official recap of the previous two games through here.
