Mass Effect 4 Still Years Away From Release, New Details Revealed

Bioware shows off some WIP renders, including the new protagonist.

Bioware was at the San Diego Comic Con this past weekend and took the opportunity to show off the next Mass Effect. Before you get excited though, it was more work in progress images and renders. In fact, Bioware revealed that it would still be several years till the game came out and that anything it’s revealed or discussed is subject to change.

Nevertheless, some of the details – garnered from various sources and compiled on NeoGAF – were interesting. The protagonist won’t be Shepard but it will be an N7 soldier (seen above), part of the highly elite special forces on Earth. It also seems that the game will be set in another galaxy and may actually run parallel to Shepard’s life. Bioware also showed renders of the Mako, the ground vehicle from the first game, and said that it had garnered plenty of feedback regarding it’s many frustrations.

The next Mass Effect will have a multiplayer mode though Bioware is leaning much closer to co-op play rather than competitive. At the very least, that means we’ll have a much better version of the co-op gameplay seen in the third game.

As of now, Mass Effect 4 doesn’t have a final name and given that it’s a ways off, we may be calling it that for a good long while. Stay tuned for more information as it comes though.
