While we still don’t know exactly when Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to be hitting store shelves, we at least know that the game’s developer Bioware is hard at work on the title. The latest evidence of this is a job listing on the company’s LinkedIn page for a new Senior Gameplay Designer. This new position is going to be helping the team iron out some of the bugs as well as work on polishing important aspects of the mechanics involved in the game.
The job listing isn’t specific about some of the things it is looking for in a senior gameplay designer but there are some hints such as setting and maintaining “the gold standard for 3rd person shooting and cover mechanics.” This position will also be looking to set and maintain the gold standard when it comes to controller input and camera movement by testing and changing what needs to be changed.
The job listing also says that this designer should be able to develop mechanics that will involve physical impact reactions in an AI driven way when it comes to the behaviors of characters in the world of Andromeda. In order to pull all this off, the company is clearly looking for a veteran of the industry with more than eight years of “experience as a game designer having shipped AAA titles” Shipped has been bolded in the ad, which apparently means the company is well aware of the difference between shipping a AAA title and working on one that never came to fruition. While we don’t know the release date for Mass Effect: Andromeda, it is expected to arrive during the Holiday season of 2016.
