Mass Effect Andromeda Is Already In Playable Form, Level Designer Working On ‘Bigger’ Things

A few updates on Bioware's upcoming sci-fi RPG.

While we have been wondering whether or not Mass Effect: Andromeda is going to be able to hit its supposed release date, Bioware and EA have been promising us all it would indeed be available by the Financial Year 2017. It appears those projections are closer to the truth than we ever expected considering one member of the development took to Twitter in order to let everyone know the game is actually in a playable state right now. Bioware’s Jos Hendriks spilled the beans and then got into a discussion with a well known industry insider about just how much he could divulge about what he saw.

“Oh gosh, I’m playing Mass Effect: Andromeda properly for the first time. This is exciting!Hendriks said in his tweet. The industry insider known as Shinobi then started an interesting conversation with Hendriks about what the developer had worked on in the original trilogy, as well as the “goodies” that might be coming along. Hendriks added that he has managed to learn quite a bit from his previous work and that this particular game is much bigger than what he’s worked on.

Shinobi and Hendriks had a rather long conversation about what the game is actually going to have in the game. The insider asked the developer “I’m just trying to picture what the new systems/Frostbite allow now in terms of mission size, dynamism, level design vs last gen.” He responded “That is a surprisingly complex question to answer, both because of my NDA and because of what we’ve publicly talked about.” We’ll just have to wait and see what he has in store for Mass Effect: Andromeda.
