For the fourth Mass Effect game (and the first one in five years, ever since Mass Effect 3 capped off the original trilogy), Bioware are looking back to the original title that set off the series- while Mass Effect 2 and 3 were widely acclaimed for their focus on storytelling, characterization, and their highly refined gameplay, it seems the fourth game will return to the kind of focus on exploring strange worlds that has made the first one a fan favorite in so many circles.
“Internally, [Mass Effect Andromeda has] been called “the spiritual successor to ME1″ throughout its development,” said well known industry insider shinobi602 on NeoGAF. He also added that the recently leaked footage of Mass Effect Andromeda was from a far older build – a late 2014 one – which means that for good or for bad, the game no longer looks like that, any more.
No matter- what we are hearing of the game right now sounds extremely exciting. A game with the polish and refinement of Mass Effect 2 and 3, but with the exploration oriented focus of the original game? Sounds like a dream come true to me. As usual, this piece of information should be taken with a grain of salt but shinobi602 has a proven track record, so this is most likely true.
We will keep you updated as this builds.
