Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes PS4 Dwarfs Xbox One Version in Sales

The PS4 version is still going strong following Konami's Q1 FY 2015 financial report.

Konami didn’t have a very busy first quarter of the 2015 fiscal year, which ran for three months and ended on June 30th, and it revealed increased revenues for the quarter. Sales were up by 6.6 percent at ¥48.61 billion ($472.6 million). Net income was up by 45.6 percent to ¥1.36 billion ($13.2 million) and about 570,000 copies of Metal Gear Solid games were sold in the quarter.

What’s interesting is the breakdown of the sales. PS4 sales accounted for 12 percent of total game sales for Konami in this quarter. The Xbox One, by comparison, only accounted for 4 percent. If you look at the sales for the financial year ending on 2014, then the PS4 version still accounted for 8 percent of games sold while the Xbox One version accounted for 3 percent. Whichever way you look at it, the PS4 is the preferred choice among those who bought Ground Zeroes.

Konami is currently predicting revenues of ¥220 billion ($2.14 billion) which shows a 1.1 percent increase year-over-year and expected net income is likely to be ¥7 billion ($68 million), which will be up by 82.6 percent. Could The Phantom Pain be imminent? We’ll find out as 2015 nears.
