One of the reasons I admire Hideo Kojima and his work is his ability to whip people into a dervish of excitement with the simplest of things. For example, a picture of the number 8 stuck to the testing station for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (see below). That’s doing it with class.
These play tests apparently may possibly the game roughly two – four months away from being ready for release based on the numbers from Guns of the Patriots. But this is a much bigger game, and testing may take quite a lot longer. Kojima also talked about the difficulty of the tutorials due to the open world setting. That’s perfectly understandable given the fundamental difference in the previous linear Metal Gear games and this new open world game.
As he puts it, rather poetically by chance of translation or by intention, “it is free infiltration”. Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain is due for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year. Stay tuned for more news and updates.
