The latest Atlus Showcase for Metaphor: ReFantazio with director Katsura Hasino has dropped, offering tons of new information on the journey aspect of the game. When players set out, they do so via the Gauntlet Runner and can choose various locations on the world map.
While on the Gauntlet Runner, you can perform activities like reading, laundry (where items and money are found), cooking (good for making special items), and even cleaning (which raises your max HP). If you interact with your Followers, then Virtues, the core stats, are raised. These will come in handy for speech checks with NPCs and even to gain cooperation from your allies.
You can stop by nearby villages on the way to a destination and discover items to give to allies like Neuras, the Gauntlet Runner pilot. It unlocks the Gunner Archetype, showcased in a side quest dungeon, the Man-Eater’s Grotto. If you can’t complete the dungeon within the day, it’s possible to return to the base town or camp outside and tackle it the next day.
A main quest dungeon is revealed for the first time, where players end up trapped in a giant worm’s belly. They must escape within the time limit to avoid digestion. Hashino said there are a “lot of creative fantasy dungeons” in the game, big and small, for players to experience.
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on October 11th for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Stay tuned for more details shortly.
