One of the less talked about aspects of the consoles wars between Microsoft and Sony is the exclusive in-game content, even for titles that appear on both consoles. Ever since the advent of this console cycle, Sony has been winning that particular battle but Microsoft doesn’t seem to mind.
At a recent PAX Australia keynote, Larry Hyrb, better known to the gaming community as Major Nelson talked about how Sony has gotten so much more exclusive content lately. “They [Sony] just decided to write a lot of checks from what I understand; we certainly had the options, and we would look at it, but it’s like, is that the best way to spend money or should we work on creating maybe an Elite controller?”
Hyrb added he doesn’t believe there is one right answer. At the same time, it doesn’t appear as though he has many qualms about the approach Microsoft has taken on the issue. “There’s no right answer: we look at every single opportunity, and go, ‘Is this the best for the community and the best use of our money, or would it be better somewhere else, like working on Xbox One S or something like that?”
Thanks, Powerupgaming.
