Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Plagued by Long Initial Loading Times, Developer Investigating

"With so many users initializing the sim concurrently, we have a large number of server requests," says the official support account.

The long-awaited Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is now available for Xbox Series X/S and PC alongside Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Unfortunately, it seems to have run into a snag at launch with complaints of long initial loading times. Some users also report loading past 90 percent without any further progress.

Microsoft and Asobo Studio are aware of the issues, per the official MSFS Support account on Twitter. “With so many users initializing the sim concurrently, we have a large number of server requests. We are working to help resolve the issues as soon as possible.” The account also recommends rebooting if the initial load doesn’t go beyond 90 percent. The only other solution is to wait for the game to load normally.

The issues are widespread enough to warrant an “Overwhelmingly Negative” response on Steam, with 18 percent of the 968 user reviews (and rising) giving it the thumbs-down. Other notable issues include no mouse control in the user interface, though pressing Alt + Enter seemingly brings up the cursor. Stay tuned for more updates and possible solutions in the meantime.
