The Xbox One is slated to launch in India later this year, so ahead of its launch, Microsoft is taking the time out to drop the price for its existing Xbox 360 range in the country. They announced that both models of the Xbox 360 currently being sold in the country (the 250 GB, and the 250 GB with Kinect) will see their prices dropped to ₹21,990 and ₹31,990 respectively. These prices are down from their previous price points of ₹24,990 and ₹34,990.
The SKUs will also retail either with free games or an included membership voucher for Xbox Live Gold. In USD terms, the consoles now cost $360 and $520 respectively, having seen a $50 price cut across both (so basically the price of one game).
Anshu Mor, Director of Interactive Entertainment Business, Microsoft India, said, “We are committed to offer great experiences to our consumers at compelling price points. This price drop on 250GB SKUs, coupled with our recently launched Xbox Live Gold Rush promo, will provide great value to our community of fans and gamers.”
Xbox One launches later this year in India. The PlayStation 4 was made available to Indian gamers earlier this year, and Nintendo lacks any official retail presence in the country.
