It looks like Sony aren’t the only ones who’re hiring people to work on their next generation console. A few job listings have gone up on Microsoft’s official site that very explicitly state that they’re looking to hire people to work with them on various aspects of the hardware of the Xbox Scarlett (or whatever the next Xbox will be called).
Job ads for a Senior Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer as Xbox’s storage hardware developer, and for a Senior Mechanical Engineer have gone up on the Microsoft site, with specific mentions also being made of next generation hardware for Xbox. “The successful candidate will be the primary technical focal point for existing and leading-edge storage technologies on currently shipping and future Xbox design projects,” reads the job ad for Senior Electrical Engineer- Xbox storage hardware developer.
Meanwhile, the Senior Mechanical Engineer listing also very specifically brings up accessories that will be linked to the next generation of Xbox. “The Xbox Accessories Team is looking for a highly motivated and seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the mechanical system development of our next generation accessories,” the ad reads.
Rumours around when the next Xbox and the PS5 might be revealed have been circulating for a long time now. NPD analyst Mat Piscatella believes both might end up getting announced next year, while a recent rumour also suggested that Sony will be revealing the PS5 in full in 2019 as well.
