Microsoft Removes Instructions And Files For Updating Xbox One In Offline State

"We’ve actually removed the page and we will work with customers directly"

Earlier today Microsoft removed information from their website which provided instructions on how to install the necessary day one Xbox One update while the system was not connected to internet. Along with the instructions, the update could be downloaded via a PC, transferred over to a flash drive, and then placed in the Xbox One for update. Bot the instructions and the update files have been pulled.

A Microsoft spokesperson had the following to say regarding the same. “The site was not an alternative way to take the Day One update and customers still need to connect to Xbox Live for the update. Because of the complexity of this customer support process we’ve actually removed the page and we will work with customers directly to make sure they have a smooth experience.”

The page it seemed was intended for use in an emergency situation in which gamers could not connect to the internet, but would still want to play their Xbox One’s the day the received them. An altruistic idea in thought, it was quickly becoming abused, necessitating Microsoft’s intervention.

As of now, if gamers run into update difficulties, they will need to call Microsoft customer support.
