Following E3 2017, Xbox marketing head Aaron Greenberg noted that The Coalition was focused primarily on the Gears of War franchise going forward. Despite this, an “Official Microsoft Vendor” called StoryLab Productions recently announced on that it was developing a new IP with The Coalition.
Sounds odd? Well, not only has the page been removed (you can check out the Google cache version here) but Microsoft representative told GamesRadar that, “The Coalition is exclusively focused on Gears of War.” Take that for what you will.
It could be that there was some confusion about calling this a “new IP”. Maybe StoryLab is assisting in the next Gears game which may or may not be called Gears of War 5? Perhaps the announcement pertains to something else and the studio simply ran with it way too early? There are a number of possibilities but at this time, The Coalition doesn’t seem to have anything outside of the Gears of War universe currently in development.
