At E3 this year, to absolutely no one’s surprise, Microsoft announced a new Halo game for the Xbox One console, although they then proceeded to tell us absolutely nothing about it. The title has since been shrouded in absolute mystery; however, we may just have gotten our first look at some story details for the game, courtesy of Microsoft’s online web store, which revealed a very brief and truncated synopsis of the upcoming game.
‘Halo for Xbox One takes the now-legendary saga to new heights and is one of the most anticipated games for the new console. In possession of a mysterious data chip, Petty Officer John-117, aka Master Chief, confronts a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted. Pre-order the next chapter in the wildly popular Halo series designed exclusively for Xbox One,’ the description read before it was changed.
Of course, this tells us absolutely nothing about the game, except that it continues along the same narrative themes as the games that came before it.
More important than story in this case, however, would be the reassurance that the new Halo game will actually be a competent entry in the once hallowed franchise, and not a bastardization of the gameplay and canon that all the fans are so passionate about.
