Microsoft Will Partner With adidas For Xbox-Themed Sneakers

As part of the 20th anniversary of Xbox, you'll be able to get some themed kicks to go along with your consoles.

It can be hard to believe, but Microsoft entered the gaming landscape 20 years ago. The original Xbox launched back in 2001 and was something of an oddity. The black and green box was a powerful machine and one that would introduce many things that would gradually become a standard in the industry from online gaming services as well as internal hardware storage. To celebrate, Microsoft and shoe maker adidas are teaming up to celebrate with some nostalgic marketing.

As announced via the official Xbox blog, the two entities will come together to create a sneaker based on the Xbox brand. It is said to be inspired by the original special released Xbox that was clear green that coincided with the launch of Halo: Combat Evolved, the game that single-handedly put the system on the map. adidas also put out a trailer to highlight the show, edited like a skate tape from the earlier 2000s with clips of Halo and skateboarding teens. Check it out below for full nostalgia overload.

The sneakers will come out later this year, but as of now, no date has been announced.
