Monster Hunter Wilds Lecture on Game Optimisation at CEDEC 2025 Cancelled

Capcom likely cancelled the lecture due to threats and targeted harassment faced by its employees over Wilds' performance issues.

While Monster Hunter Wilds has seen a fair bit of praise since its release in February thanks to its gameplay and visuals, one of the biggest critiques of the title has been the fact that it can often tend to run quite poorly even on powerful gaming computers. According to a report by Automaton Media, Capcom has had to cancel a lecture on the optimisation of Monster Hunter Wilds as fans of the series have not been happy with the progress made by the studio.

The lecture was slated to happen at Japan’s CEDEC 2025 – the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference – and while Capcom hasn’t revealed the reason behind its lecture’s cancellation, it’s believed that harassment and threats faced by the company’s employees were one of the main reasons.

Interestingly, CEDEC 2025 was slated to have several of its 200 sessions revolve around Monster Hunter Wilds, covering subjects like UI art, narrative design, and the aforementioned cancelled lecture on game optimisation. The cancelled lecture was titled “Making Monster Hunter Wilds run smoothly! Everything you need to know about optimization”.

Other lectures will continue as planned with CEDEC running from July 22nd to 24th. Essentially, it acts as the Japanese equivalent of a Game Developer’s Conference, where developers gather and discuss game development.

It is worth noting that Capcom has been aware of issues surrounding the optimisation of Monster Hunter Wilds. The company acknowledged these problems in a social media post, where it also offered some temporary solutions for players looking to reduce their CPU usage. It had also confirmed that it had reduced how much VRAM Monster Hunter Wilds can take up.

Title Update 2 brought with it a host of new content for Monster Hunter Wilds. Headlining the update were two new monsters joining the game’s roster – Lagiacrus and Seregios. Both monsters also came with their own unique armour sets and weapons, each with unique skills that could potentially change how their weapons are even used. As part of the update, Capcom also added support for DLSS 4 in Monster Hunter Wilds for players running the game on a compatible Nvidia GPU.

The next major update for Monster Hunter Wilds – Title Update 3 – is slated for release sometime in September. With the update, Capcom has confirmed that it will add a new quest difficulty and a system that allows players to craft random Talismans. Check out more details here.
