Monster Hunter World launched on PC at last today- almost seven months after it launched on the Xbox One and PS4 earlier this year. And if you thought that hype for it might have cooled down in those intervening seven months, well, uh, you were wrong.
It’s been out for less than half a day, and it’s already set multiple records on Steam- as ResetEra points out, as of right now, there are 236,644 players in game concurrently, which makes it the single biggest launch on Steam in 2018 so far, the biggest launch on Steam for Japanese game ever, Capcom’s biggest launch on PC (obviously), and currently the fourth highest played game on Steam. I need to reiterate, this game has been out for less than a half day, and it has already set all these records. It seems like its success on PC is assured to be analogous to its success on consoles, at this point.
Monster Hunter World is out now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC- and if you haven’t played it already, you really should. It’s the best game of 2018, after all. Read our review of the PC version here, and our review for the game’s original console launch here.
