Mortal Kombat 11 – Bruce Campbell Denies Ash Will Be Playable, Says New Evil Dead Game Is Coming

The plot thickens.

We’re finally getting an idea of what the DLC will look like for Mortal Kombat 11. We got trailer for Shang Tsung, which also introduced the list of upcoming characters, with 2 unnamed guests and the rev of a chainsaw as a final tease. It raised eyebrows for sure, as previous leaks have indicated that Ash Williams, from the Evil Dead franchise, would be one of the guests. The actor portraying him denied this in the past, however, in humorous way. That said, that chainsaw rev got people wondering if it’s all part of long game marketing. Well, Campbell is sticking to his guns here, but he’s also revealed something else major in the process.

On the The Jim and Sam show, Campbell again denied that Ash would be making his way to Mortal Kombat 11. He says that he was contacted about it, and is opened to Ash popping up for a cameo, but he will not be a playable character.

Part of the reason he doesn’t want Ash in MK11 is to not overexpose the character, he says. As disappointing as that is, he does drop a big piece of news for Evil Dead fans, as he says a new Evil Dead game is in development that he is doing full voice work for. He doesn’t give many details on the game, such as launch systems or who the developer is, but says the company hopes to get it out by the end of the year. Check out the clip below.

Whether or not Campbell is playing the long game, marketing-wise, to not spoil the surprise remains to be seen. At this point, though, it’s fair to say Ash probably won’t be doing any Fatalities anytime soon. Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
