Battlefield 3 for the PC will support up to 64 players online in a match while the console versions will support only 24 players online at once. This is due to the fact that the PC will be the leading platform of the game, which will definitely make the hardcore PC players happy about its release while still tending to the console players. I think this is a great move on DICE’s behalf, and I am one of the console players (but I play them on all platforms given the chance). Battlefield 3 will have a co-op campaign with its own story making this game completely disconnected from Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in that aspect, which once again is the story of course. DICE is not held back from bragging about their new Frostbite 2 Engine being rebuilt and will play a large part in the games physics and gameplay. That being said and with the PC being the leading platform for the game, there will be no mod tools included in the PC version when it is released, but in time I’m sure that will change.
You will have four classes to choose from as well as Kill Cams being confirmed that can be turned on or off while a ‘Theater Mode’ was a touchy subject for DICE, so that feature might or might not make it in the game as of now. Best Buy has confirmed the 24 player online for consoles among few other details about the game listed below, while other sources have confirmed the game will take place in Tehran, Paris and New York, as well as Sulaymaniyah, Iraqi Kurdistan. Here are the details Best Buy has listed just for the console versions:

I thought the “Drag your fallen comrades to safety and mount your weapon on almost any terrain to defend them” feature seemed pretty interesting. Other features that VG247.com has grabbed include that the Battlefield 3 team is almost twice as large as the Bad Company 2 team while DICE has re-captured its own war audios(bullets, gunfire, explosion, etc.) as well as the game having “better audio cues for certain actions, with it more easily able to listen to incoming threats”. You can also expect an ‘M’ rating from the game simply do the use of the word “Fuck” constantly which doesn’t bother me but it might bother your 10 year old son… but he will be playing it anyway.
Thanks to Best Buy for confirmations and VG247 for additional details.
