Titanfall, Respawn’s upcoming online action shooter for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC, is seriously fun if the beta reports are to be believed. And now that the embargo is off, we are learning more and more about it everyday, and we are learning more and more how it is introducing new spins on existing shooter conventions.
Take, for example, Burn Cards. These are a new take on the Perks concept (ironically, which debuted with the last big hit by the creators of Titanfall, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare)- these are temporary perks that you can get by using Burn Cards, which are all one time use (although you can get multiple of several over the course of gameplay). So a bit like trading cards with status effects then.
Titanfall is due out in March on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360, and it looks like the next big thing. Whether it lives up to the hype or not remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
