Next Xbox Could Launch in 2026 – Rumour

If fresh rumours are anything to go by, Microsoft might be looking to end the Xbox Series X/S lifecycle earlier than most would have expected.

The expectation among most people has been that the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S console generation is going to last about eight years, and sure enough, leaks have claimed that the PS6 is targeting 2028 release, while Microsoft has also said it expects the next generation Xbox to launch in the same year. Where the latter is concerned, however, it seems plans may have shifted internally, with the company now allegedly looking to bring its next-gen console’s launch forward by a couple of years.

That’s as per Kepler on Twitter, a dataminer who has previously leaked accurate details on AMD hardware, and has also been leaking details on the rumoured PS5 Pro’s specs. The leaker has previously claimed on few occasions that the next Xbox will launch earlier than the widely expected 2027-28 window, and that Microsoft’s plans for a cylindrical discless version of the Xbox Series X, which were leaked earlier this year, may have been shelved.

Interestingly, the leaks from earlier this year – which came from the company’s trial with the FTC – also claimed that Microsoft’s vision for the next Xbox console was to “develop a next generation hybrid game platform capable of leveraging the combined power of the client and cloud to deliver deeper immersion and entirely new classes of game experiences.” You can read more on that through here.
