Rumours of a PS5 Pro have been circulating for a while now, with a recent leak having potentially spilled the beans on its specs and what they will enable. Now, more details on the mid-gen upgrade have also arrived via journalist Jeff Grubb.

Speaking recently during his Game Mess podcast, Grubb corroborated the aforementioned recent leak, stating that the specs in question are “based on a range of possibilities, because they have not actually fully dialed that in.”

Interestingly, Grubb has also claimed that the PS5 Pro will feature Sony’s own proprietary machine learning supersampling technology, similar to DLSS, which will allow the console to run games at “a really high resolution and a really high frame rate”. Grubb says this technology is what will enable the console’s 2x hardware ray tracing acceleration.

He also claims the PS5 Pro is likely to launch in September 2024, which aligns with what has been stated in previous leaks as well.

When Sony plans on announcing the console remains to be seen, but if it is indeed targeting a September launch, an official reveal is likely to happen in the coming months. Stay tuned for more updates.
