We already know that Nier: Automata is going to have the same kind of weirdness and fun that came along with the original. Now we also know that Square Enix wants to have the game looking as good as it possibly can. To that end, the publisher recently announced the development team will do everything possible to have the game running at 60fps.
Square Enix producer Yosuke Saito recently talked to Eurogamer about that goal and made it clear he thinks it’s something that is entirely doable. “Certainly Platinum Games is renowned for making great games,” Saito told the site, “They’ve got a very good reputation, and the games they produce people can be very confident that they’ll have a good experience. Having them onboard for Nier was very important to this project.”
Saito actually pointed to Platinum being involved as one of the reasons they expect the game to have plenty of weird aspects, just as the original was able to pull off. Not only does it appear that the partnership between Platinum Games and Square Enix is going to mean a better looking game, but a better game overall. The game’s director Yoko Taro basically echoed Saito’s comments saying so far, the development for this game has been much more stress free. As of yet, all we are getting are a few drips and drops about the new game. We don’t yet have an official release date for Nier: Automata though it’s expected sometime in 2016.
