NieR Automata First Gameplay Trailer, Screenshots Revealed

Hack and slash fans, take note.

Remember that new NieR game that Square Enix announced at E3 2015 and which is in development at Platinum Games? It finally has a name – NieR: Automata. Square Enix released the first screenshots and gameplay footage from the game today and it has some rather action-packed mechanics.

In NieR: Automata, you play as 2B, an android soldier created by humans to fight off against a horde of invading robots that’s laid claim to Earth. 2B isn’t your typical android though – she’s a special soldier part of the YoRHa squad who can fight at close quarters with her sword or from long range using a “Pod”. Interestingly, though each YoRHa model has its own personality, they’re forbidden from expressing any emotions.

NieR: Automata will be releasing exclusively for the PS4 and is a rather intriguing anti-thesis to Platinum’s Xbox One exclusive Scalebound. What are your thoughts on the game? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned for more information in the coming months.
