NieR Automata Didn’t Have Enough Of A Budget To Get Meaningful DLC, Says Director

That's kind of a shame.

Against all odds, NieR Automata is out, and it is a wonderfully good game- however, you better enjoy all that it has to offer, because as it turns out, it doesn’t look like it will be getting any meaningful DLC or expansions.

Speaking at PAX East, director Yoko Taro confirmed that NieR simply didn’t have enough of a budget for any meaningful DLC or expansion content to be developed for it. As such, even though it sounds like the developers want to work on the game more, they can’t. This, in turn, means that for now, what you see in the game is what you get.

At the very least, what you get is amazing– Automata has reams of content, and what it does have is great. And who knows, if the game sells enough, DLC for it might even be greenlit. For now, I think we should all enjoy what we did get.
