One of the most praised games of last year was NieR Automata, Yoko Taro and Platinum Games’ seminal masterpiece that leverages the medium in a totally unique way to tell a great, affecting story. It launched exclusively on PlayStation 4 and PC last year- another blow against the Xbox One which, back then, was already smarting from a lack of exclusive releases.
But this year, the game may finally be making the jump to Microsoft’s console. According to Jeuxvideo– the same folks who previously leaked Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy coming to Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC, and leaked the Spyro trailer, have reported that an Xbox One port of the game may be in the works. Now, Phil Spencer has promised highlighting more Japanese games at E3 this year- could this be one of them?
If NieR does come to Xbox, I can only hope it meets the kind of reception from the Xbox audience that it deserves. It truly is one of the best games of the last few years.
