Nintendo Switch Sports was last week’s biggest new launch, and unsurprisingly, it has debuted on top of UK’s weekly retail charts, as per data released by the Gfk (via GamesIndustry). Though it falls behind Wii Sports (which was only sold as a Wii pack-in) and Wii Sports Resorts where launch sales are concerned with less than half their initial sales, it has far outsold Wii U’s Wii Sports Club, while also outpacing the launch sales of other family-oriented Switch games like Mario Party Superstars, Just Dance 2022, and Ring Fit Adventure.
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which has been topping the UK charts routinely since its launch last month, has fallen down to second place after a 25% week-on-week drop in sales. Meanwhile, thanks to a PS5 restock, Gran Turismo 7 (152% weekly boost in sales) and Horizon Forbidden West (up 52% from previous week) have risen to No. 3 and No. 4 respectively.
Beyond that, there isn’t a lot of unfamiliar activity. Nintendo Switch exclusives such as Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to perform well, while Elden Ring at No. 7 and Grand Theft Auto 5 at No. 8 round out the top 10.
