Hello Games’ latest update for No Man’s Sky introduces perhaps its biggest Expedition to date in The Swarm. The time-limited campaign, available for eight weeks, sees three teams of Travellers working together to combine three fragments and ultimately defeat the new threat’s Hive of Glass.
The fragments in question are the royal, sage, and weaver, and while it’s a cooperative effort, there’s some competition involved as only one team can “finalize the counter-swarm effort.” Which brings its own set of bragging rights in the Space Anomaly, of course.
Not that The Swarm is going to make it easy. The Hive of Glass is absolutely monstrous, and you’ll need to deal with hordes of new Swarmer enemies. Slaying them is essential to gather clues for the ultimate attack with the Prismatic Core, which will weaken the Hive’s battle station. Of course, you should also prioritize removing any corruption and debris left by the Swarmers on planets.
The Expedition offers a new six-piece Direwasp armor set to customize from the swarmer’s parts alongside the Direwasp Flightpack, which buzzes with “the rage of a thousand metal insects.” Surely that won’t get on your teammates’ nerves. You can also take advantage of the new Direwasp Disintegrator for eradicating the swarmers.
Completing the Expedition also rewards decorative posters representing each fragment. Head here for all the details.
No Man’s Sky is available for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It’s approaching ten years since launch and shows no signs of slowing down with the free updates.
