Nvidia RTX Remix Allows Users to Bring RTX Features to Classic PC Games, Out Now

You can now mod your favourite old PC games with RTX features, as long as they run on DirectX 8 or DirectX 9.

Nvidia’s RTX Remix is now available for download. RTX Remix allows users to easily make changes to the assets, lighting and textures for older PC games that make use of DirectX 8 or DirectX 9.

Essentially allowing users to easily mod classic PC games, RTX Remix was originally announced back in September 2022. Users can make use of modern day graphical features in older games as long as the older titles make use of DirectX 8 or DirectX 9.

This means that players can try out older games with RTX capabilities, like DLSS, ray-traced lighting, and even more advanced features like volumetric fog and lighting. The software is able to pull this off by making use of complex machine learning algorithms.

Back when it was first unveiled, Nvidia used The Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind to show off features of RTX Remix, like adding a new lighting system to the game and easily updating its textures.

Alongside RTX Remix, Nvidia had unveiled Portal RTX, which was also developed using RTX Remix.
